A Korea–Japan joint project drama is set to land in Korea.

This remake is based on the 2019 SBS drama Stove League, which followed newly appointed general manager Baek Seung-soo (played by Namgoong Min) as he rebuilt the last-place pro baseball team 'Dreams.' The original earned major popularity thanks to its tight storytelling and powerhouse performances.

In the Japanese version, the GM role originally played by Namgoong Min will be taken on by Kazuya Kamenashi. Former Keyakizaka46 member Neru Nagahama appears as the operations manager, while renowned actor Mansai Nomura plays the club president, adding gravitas to the story. Drawing attention as well, DRIPPIN member Jun-ho Cha joins as Korean player Lim Min-jong.

The biggest differentiator in this remake is a slate of new elements tailored for the Japanese market. Expect direction designed to hook Nippon Professional Baseball fans and story developments that reflect cultural differences between Korea and Japan. With the original’s high recognition, anticipation is building over what kind of splash this remake will make.

The drama premieres on March 28 via Japan’s local OTT Lemino and premium pay channel WOWOW. The following day, March 29, SBS will begin airing one episode a week at 11:05 p.m.
