TV personality Ahn Sun-young candidly shared her thoughts on malicious comments.

On the 11th, through her own video, Ahn talked about how not to be swayed by other people’s gazes and words, sharing her personal experiences.

Looking back on her younger years, Ahn said, "I always felt I had to be mature from a young age." She continued, "I took on the role of breadwinner from age 20, and I chose a school where I could attend on scholarship," adding, "Because I had to earn my own allowance and living expenses, I kept pushing myself with the thought that I must never rest." She confessed, "Living like that, I eventually burned out and even collapsed once."

Ahn stressed the importance of breaking free from the urge to live up to others’ expectations. She said, "You have to shake off the good-person complex. These days, I’m genuinely happy. Whether people curse me out or not, I only pick out the praise comments to read."

She also mentioned what she learned from reading comments while running her YouTube channel. "There were so many good comments on my long-form videos that I thought, ‘People must really like me,’" she said. "But the video planner told me not to read the Shorts comments. I got curious and checked them anyway—and the comments section was complete chaos," she laughed.

She went on, "If you’re getting a lot of hate, that means the algorithm picked you up. It means your video is being shown to a wide range of people, not just those who like you. Even if there are 100 hate comments, there could be 6,000 people who saved the video. Numbers don’t lie."

Earlier, in one of her YouTube videos, Ahn sparked a misogyny controversy after saying, "Homes, cars, and women have one thing in common: the older they get, the higher the maintenance costs." As debate continued online following that remark, this new video laid out her frank stance on not being shaken by hate comments.
