Actress Hee-jung Kim opened up about her family history, delivering a deeply moving story to viewers.
On the March 12 broadcast of KBS2 variety show Oktapbang-ui Munjeadeul, actors Jin-hee Park and Hee-jung Kim appeared as guests. When asked about her marital status, Kim surprised everyone by saying, "I’m single." She added with a smile, "I’ve played a mom so many times that people often assume I’m married."
Kim went on to share that she currently lives with her nieces and nephews. "After my older brother passed away early, I’ve been living with and caring for my nephew and niece, who are ten years apart," she said, revealing that she has effectively taken on a mother’s role. She added, "When I go out with my nephew, people mistake him for my husband, and when I’m with my niece, they think she’s my daughter." She then shared a warm update that her older nephew is now preparing to get married.
A 36-year veteran, Kim also revealed her prolific track record as an actress. She has appeared in more than 150 films and dramas combined and once juggled multiple projects at the same time during an especially busy period. "I feel alive when I’m working," Kim said, expressing her deep passion for acting.
Having endured a long stretch before rising to fame, Kim steadily built her career from minor roles. She recalled that she became widely recognized through the dramas Somunnan Chilgongju and Jogangjiche Club. Currently, Kim is meeting viewers as Oh Jeong-ran in the KBS2 drama Bulgeun Jinju.
