Actor Jung Yi-chan has shocked home viewers with a genius doctor role that leaves a blazing first impression.

Premiering on March 14, TV Chosun’s Saturday–Sunday drama Doctor Shin stars Jung Yi-chan as Shin Ju-shin, the director of neurosurgery at Nua Hospital, earning rave reviews. A near-miraculous authority on brain surgery, Shin strides into his debut scene with a cold, unflinching gaze, gripping viewers as he leads a high-stakes operation. Even when blood splashes across his protective goggles and he hears that top star — and girlfriend — Momo (played by Baek Se-ra) has been in an accident, he refuses to lose focus and finishes the surgery.

Shin Ju-shin’s relentless pursuit of Momo is just as striking. Before the accident, he falls for her at first sight while watching her drama, then boldly expresses his feelings — leaving snacks and a sincere handwritten letter at her doorstep, showing his meticulous side. But when Momo fails to regain consciousness after the crash, he pushes ahead with a taboo "brain change" procedure. Standing in the operating room with a grave stare, Shin recalls their happiest moments, cranking the tension to the max. Viewers are zeroing in on Jung Yi-chan’s chilling portrayal of a man consumed by deranged love.

Meanwhile, Doctor Shin is the latest series from the so‑called "makjang queen" writer Im Sung-han and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on TV Chosun.
