Viewers are calling the drama starring actors Chae Jong Hyeop and Lee Sung Kyung their “life-changing drama,” and it’s quickly going viral.
Episodes 6 and 7 of MBC’s Friday–Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season (hereafter the drama) aired on the 13th and 14th, showing Seon Woo-chan (played by Chae Jong Hyeop) and Song Ha-ran (played by Lee Sung Kyung) finally confirming their feelings and leveling up into a full-on “mutual salvation romance.”
In Episode 6, Seon Woo-chan faces a corporate crisis that threatens to derail his project and abruptly leaves for the United States. Their communication gets cut off, and as Song Ha-ran checks off the items on the wish list he left behind, she feels his absence even more. When they reunite, her confession—“From now on, can I be the one to treat you better?”—mirrors his earlier line, “Is it okay if I treat you well?”, symbolically marking a major turning point in their relationship.
The show’s variety of romances—evoking a Korean take on Love Actually—is another big draw. Beyond Woo-chan and Ha-ran, there’s the twilight romance of Kim Nana (Lee Mi Sook) and Park Man-jae (Kang Seok Woo) reuniting after 50 years, the slow-burn connection between Song Ha-young (Han Ji Hyun) and Yeon Tae-seok (Kwon Hyuk), and the fresh teenage feelings of Song Ha-dam (Oh Ye Joo) and Cha Yu-gyeom (Kim Tae Young).
Viewers are also praising the delicate direction that visualizes the characters’ inner worlds. Subtle camera shakes convey Woo-chan’s anxiety, while texture shifts reminiscent of “one inch of memory” pull audiences straight into the characters’ emotions.
In Your Radiant Season airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC.
