Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is gearing up for a bold new shock.

Attending the Asia Film Awards (AFA) in Hong Kong, Hwang reflected on his rise as a global hitmaker and unveiled a concrete blueprint for his next project, Killing Old People Club, which has the world’s attention.

In an interview with foreign media, Hwang said, "I think I’ve said everything I can about Squid Game," adding, "The outpouring of global love was an unforgettable experience, and the journey helped me grow as a person and as an artist."

Notably, Hwang warned that his new film will be even more violent and brutal than Squid Game. Set in the near future and centered on intergenerational conflict, he explained, "I wanted to capture the growing tension between generations worldwide—especially in East Asia." Hwang added, "This movie will ask a fundamental question about 'fairness.'"

Meanwhile Killing Old People Club is in the final stages of scripting and aims to begin filming next spring after casting. Detailing the production timeline, the director said, "I’m currently working on the script. It should be finished in about two months. Casting has already begun. We plan to start pre-production this fall and begin shooting next spring."
