Designer Lee Jung-woo—known as actress Jun Ji-hyun’s mother-in-law—publicly showed love for BTS, but her choice of words has sparked controversy. While some saw it as pure fandom, others called it a blunt jab.
On the 21st, via her personal social media, Lee referenced BTS’s comeback concert held that day in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun and posted: "A leader who speaks English and members who still can’t after 10 years." She added, "I love them all anyway" along with a purple heart description and the hashtag #BTS.
Although the post can be read as affectionate commentary from a BTS fan, it quickly spread online and drew mixed reactions. Some netizens criticized the phrasing—"Was that wording necessary?" and "Thanks to BTS, many foreigners learn Korean—disappointing"—calling it inappropriate. Others countered, "The members themselves have mentioned this," and "It’s still an expression of love," offering more forgiving interpretations.
Meanwhile, BTS’s 5th full-length album 'Arirang' is drawing a massive response upon release.
