The all-encompassing celebration of Korean popular culture, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, will take place on May 8 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Italian luxury house Gucci returns as a partner for the fourth consecutive year, further elevating the ceremony’s prestige.
This year, Baeksang is shaking things up by newly introducing a Musical category alongside its traditional Television, Film, and Theater divisions. Launched in the year that marks the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals, the addition carries extra significance and positions Baeksang to level up as a comprehensive arts awards that embraces every stage.
The ceremony’s overarching concept is ‘The Stage’, a symbolic theme that goes beyond a simple physical platform to encompass the TV screen, the movie theater, and the worlds of plays and musicals.
Eligibility covers television, OTT, and web content released between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026; Korean feature films that opened in the same period; and staged plays and musicals. For the Television division, only works with at least four episodes or those that aired at least one-third of their total run during the judging window are included. For the New Actor awards, eligibility is limited to performers with three or fewer credited roles at the lead or supporting level.
In Film, the New Director Award is open to directors who debuted with a feature during the period, and the ‘Gucci Impact Award’—which honors a work that expands audience awareness through a strong social message—will also be presented. In Theater, the Young Theater Award, Acting Award, and Baeksang Theater Award will be awarded, while the newly added Musical division will recognize three categories: Work (Best Musical), Creative, and Acting.
To enhance fairness and expertise in the Television and Film divisions, a preliminary survey of 30 working professionals in each field will be conducted, with the results reflected in the final judging to determine the winners.
Nominees and detailed criteria by category will be revealed on April 13 via the official website and social media channels.
