KT Studio Genie is cementing its status as a powerhouse producer of well-made K-dramas.
Riding high on the success of Honour (hereafter 'Honour') and Climax, KT Studio Genie is on a hot streak. After last year’s consecutive hits like Shinbyeong 3, Chakhan Yeoja Bu Semi, the company has rapidly emerged as a game changer in the drama studio market. In the first half of this year, it aims to go three-for-three with a trio of genre-driven titles that ooze edgy appeal.
Rather than flooding the market, KT Studio Genie has bet on story-first planning. That discerning eye for hits is now earning the studio a reputation for shows with a distinctive KT Studio Genie edge that goes beyond one-off successes.
In particular, 'Honour' delivered a powerful emotional punch thanks to stellar performances by Lee Na-young, Jung Eun-chae, and Lee Chung-ah. It held the No. 1 spot on Coupang Play from its premiere week through the finale, posting strong viewership throughout. The series also cracked the weekly Top 10 on major Asian streaming platforms, signaling fresh global momentum for K-dramas.
Climax, led by commanding performances from Ju Ji-hoon and Ha Ji-won, drew massive attention, ranking No. 1 domestically on Disney+ for eight straight days and topping the combined TV and OTT drama buzz charts.
Anticipation is also surging for Scarecrow, set to premiere in April. This crime thriller follows a detective who must partner with the person he despises most, unraveling the truth across three decades in a tense, time-spanning chase.
This lineup will be scheduled primarily on ENA’s Monday–Tuesday drama slot, KT Group’s own linear channel, in collaboration with major OTT platforms including Coupang Play, Disney+, and TVING. By pairing each title with the optimal OTT partner, KT Studio Genie continues to expand its reach to more viewers.
Viewers are reacting with comments like, "KT Studio Genie really knows what they’re doing" and "I’ve got something new to watch in April."
