BTOB’s Yook Sungjae laid bare the frustrations he once felt during group promotions — recalling grueling drama shoots, a jarring dorm moment with Seo Eunkwang, and how their bond ultimately stayed unshaken.
On a recent episode of MBN and Channel S variety show Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 3, BTOB members Seo Eunkwang and Yook Sungjae joined Jun Hyun-moo and creator KwakTube for a food tour in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. Hometown pride ran high as the two Yongin natives led the vibe with childhood memories and plenty of “Yongin pride.”
When asked how the group has lasted 14 years, Seo Eunkwang credited “our maknae,” praising Yook Sungjae. Yook explained, “Early on, when our music wasn’t taking off, I found opportunities through variety shows and dramas,” revealing he split his individual earnings evenly with the team.
Still, Yook admitted, “There was a time my heart wavered.” Thinking back to filming the 2015 drama Who Are You: School 2015, he said, “It was so tough I slept only about seven hours a week, and when I came back to the dorm, Eunkwang-hyung was in just his underwear playing games,” sharing a bitter memory. Seo responded, “I didn’t have schedules then either, and I had my own struggles,” opening up about his side.
Despite the emotional gap that formed in different circumstances, their relationship remained solid. Yook added, “Eunkwang-hyung knows everything I do for my solo work and always cheers me on,” expressing gratitude.
Meanwhile, BTOB debuted in 2012 and won love with hits like ‘Insane,’ ‘I Only Know Love,’ ‘Beep Beep,’ ‘It’s Okay,’ and ‘Missing You.’ Recently, to mark their 14th debut anniversary, BTOB returned with the new digital single ‘Us, Again.’
