Singer Kim Jang-hoon has spoken out, directly pushing back against rumors and misunderstandings about his donations and personal wealth.

Appearing recently on comedy duo Beautiful Nerd’s YouTube channel, Kim addressed claims that he lives on monthly rent because of his donations, drawing a clear line: "It’s not because I’m poor — it’s a choice." When asked how much he pays where he lives now, Kim said, "Including maintenance fees, about 5 million won a month," adding, "I don’t have kids, and I don’t need to stay in one place for long. Renting fits my lifestyle."

Currently residing in Daechi-dong, Seoul, Kim revealed that he passed on chances to move into pricier homes because they didn’t suit how he lives. "I like my current setup where I encounter fewer people and can live freely," he said. "It’s convenient that I can shout anytime I want."

Kim was also candid about how he makes money. "I earn from events and concerts," he said, noting his fee level is "about 50 to 60 times the standard appearance fee," which left viewers stunned. He added that in the past, he performed hundreds of shows a year and earned a substantial income.

Wrapping up, Kim explained his spending and giving philosophy: "I pay rent, enjoy my life, take care of my band, family, and the people around me — and then I donate what’s left." He also emphasized that owning buildings or other stable assets could actually dampen his drive to keep working.

Born in 1963, Kim Jang-hoon is 62 this year. Since his 1991 debut, he has remained highly active and has repeatedly shared his beliefs about a life of giving on news programs and variety shows, earning strong public support.
