The drama built around the provocative ‘brain change’ concept just dropped another explosive twist that left viewers reeling.

In episode 6 of TV CHOSUN’s weekend miniseries Doctor Shin, which aired on the 29th, Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan) and those around him faced tangled conflicts and life-altering choices.

This episode showed Shin Ju-shin clashing with Momo (Baek Se-ra), who carries the brain of his mother-in-law, Hyun Ran-hee (Song Ji-in). Living under the same roof, Momo continually meddles and provokes him — from insisting on preparing his birthday table to nitpicking his tone — ratcheting up the tension.

Previously, Shin Ju-shin suggested a ‘brain change’ surgery to Kim Jin-ju (Cheon Young-min), telling her, "If you get on the operating table, I can change your life." Her escalating dilemma and inner conflict amped up the suspense.

In the end, Kim Jin-ju resolves to go through with the surgery and tries to put her life in order. In the final moments, Shin Ju-shin and Momo are wheeled into surgery at the same time — and the shocking twist shows Kim Jin-ju opening her eyes in Momo’s body.

After the broadcast, netizens reacted, saying, "The plot is confusing" and "Isn’t this going way too makjang (over-the-top soap-opera extreme)?"

Meanwhile, Doctor Shin airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play.
