Actor Jo Jin-woong, who announced his retirement amid controversy over his past as a juvenile offender, is now rumored to be staying overseas.

On March 31, The Fact reported via YouTube that Jo was spotted in Malaysia. According to the outlet, he has kept a low profile, minimizing public appearances and media contact. He has reportedly even cut off communication with close acquaintances.

Previously, after controversy surrounding his personal history erupted, Jo announced he would halt his entertainment activities. In a statement, he apologized for disappointing the public over issues from his past and said he intended to end his career as an actor.

His sudden retirement has thrown the tvN drama Sigeuneol 2 into crisis. Sigeuneol 2 is a sequel to the 2016 series 'Signal,' with Kim Hye-soo, Lee Je-hoon, and Jo Jin-woong expected to star.

In response, tvN cautiously stated, "We are seeking the best course of action to protect the work's value."
