Seo In-young, the singer formerly of the group Jewelry, got candid about her life, revealing a family story she had never shared before.
On April 1, a new video on Seo In-young’s YouTube channel showed her recent move to Namyangju, Gyeonggi, and a glimpse of her daily life. “I lived in Samseong-dong for about 20 years and moved here a year ago,” she said. “My father lives nearby, so I go back and forth often.”
In the video, Seo opened up about her childhood home life. “My parents divorced when I was in third grade,” she revealed. “My father raised my younger sibling and me.” She added, “Their personalities just didn’t match, and even now I think divorce was the right choice. Back then, I actually felt more at ease.”
She also spoke about how she felt after her father remarried. “My stepmother is truly a good person, but as a kid it wasn’t easy to accept,” Seo said. “During my teenage years, I struggled with a lot of needless thoughts.” She clarified any misconceptions about her family, adding, “Now the two of them get along well, and my late mother also said in her lifetime that they were a good match.” She continued, “This is the first time I’ve ever shared this publicly. I always carried a bit of anxiety in my heart.”
Seo then touched on recent changes in her lifestyle. She revealed she pared down luxury bags and shoes for financial reasons and now lives more modestly. Indirectly reflecting on her post-divorce state of mind, she added with a laugh, “I’m careful about what I say because I don’t want to cause any unnecessary misunderstandings.”
Seo In-young married a non-celebrity businessman in 2023 but divorced the following year and is now single.
