Rookie actor Kim Tae-young is keeping his rising-star momentum, teaming up with Lee Jun-hyuk after working with Chae Jong-hyeop on a previous project.
Kim Tae-young will appear in the SBS occult drama Awakening, where Lee Jun-hyuk transforms into an exorcist priest.
Awakening is an occult exorcism series set at Seongryeong High School, which has turned into a playground for evil spirits in the ruthless race for higher grades. An exorcist priest stakes his life to save the students.
Kim Tae-young plays Jang Si-hoon, the school’s resident golden boy at Seongryeong High School. He’s the grandson of the chairman of Danyu Group, which operates major resorts and hotels nationwide, and the second son of the company’s president. With his aristocratic looks and calm demeanor, he’s nicknamed the “prince,” stealing the hearts of many female students — and he’s set to play a central role in the story.
Previously, Kim drew attention in MBC’s In Your Radiant Season, playing high school baseball player Cha Yu-gyeom and embodying the innocence of first love. Even in his debut project, his steady acting and strong character work earned him nicknames like “steady boyfriend material” and “the grandson everyone wants.” In his new drama, he transforms into a third-generation chaebol with an intelligent yet mysterious aura, promising a completely different kind of charm.
Meanwhile, Awakening is currently in production and aims to air in 2027.
