Going viral: Actor Kim Bum is making a bold transformation with his first-ever romantic comedy role.

In SBS’s new Wednesday–Thursday drama Sold Out on You (hereafter 'Omae-jin'), Kim Bum plays Seo Eric, the executive vice president of global skincare brand Letual, and is set to meet viewers with a fresh charm.

'Omae-jin' follows the tangled romance between perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo-seop) and sellout-driven home shopping host Dam Yejin (played by Chae Won-bin). Through this project, Kim Bum trades his signature charismatic image for a softer, more straightforward appeal.

Kim Bum shared, "People around me have long begged me to try a rom-com, and I finally joined this drama thanks to a great opportunity," expressing excitement for his first attempt at the genre. On his character Seo Eric, he added, "He’s very honest about his feelings yet considerate of others, which I found incredibly attractive."

In the story, Seo Eric has tiptoed around his family since childhood, but meeting his longtime crush Dam Yejin pushes him to take charge of his own life. Kim Bum explained, "Because this change is sparked by Dam Yejin, I focused less on indulging in personal emotions and more on portraying a mindset that always puts the other person first."

What fans are most eager to see is Seo Eric’s "straight-to-the-point flirting." Kim Bum said, "His soft yet crystal-clear way of expressing emotions—delivering his heart exactly while avoiding any burden or pressure on the other person—is Seo Eric’s secret weapon," showing confidence in the role.

He also praised co-star Chae Won-bin. "She has the ability to lift the mood on set with her bright energy," he said. "Thanks to her wide range of expression, I found it much easier to shape Seo Eric, and acting together has been truly fun," he teased, hinting at standout chemistry.

All eyes are on Kim Bum’s new challenge as 'Omae-jin' premieres on the 22nd at 9 p.m. KST.
