AKMU’s Lee Su-hyun sparked buzz with a warm, heartfelt tribute to singer-actor IU, highlighting their wholesome senior-junior bond that fans can’t stop talking about.
On April 9, AKMU appeared on MBC FM4U’s Kim Shin Young's Hope Song at Noon to promote their 4th full-length album 'Bloom'. During the show, a listener mentioned that IU had recently praised AKMU on Lee Sang-soon’s radio program. Lee Su-hyun drew attention by revealing, “I had already seen it.”
Back then, IU called AKMU “adorable juniors but absolute geniuses and artists I truly respect.” Responding to the senior’s compliment, Lee Su-hyun said, “We don’t contact each other often, but we always keep up with each other’s activities and cheer each other on in our hearts,” adding, “She’s the senior I respect the most.”
In particular, Lee Su-hyun shared, “When IU picked her most cherished junior, she didn’t say AKMU — she said Lee Su-hyun specifically,” and continued, “She’s a big sister I love so much, and when I saw the shout-out, I was just filled with gratitude.” Hearing this, Lee Chan-hyuk joked around, and the studio quickly burst into laughter.
AKMU are currently promoting their comeback with the full album 'Bloom'. Lee Chan-hyuk explained their creative process: “I drew inspiration from moments where joy and sadness coexist,” signaling music that captures the flip side of complex emotions.
