LE SSERAFIM got brutally honest about everything from their debut to conquering Tokyo Dome and the story behind their first payout.
On the June 1 episode of the SBS variety show Ani Geunde Jinjja!, LE SSERAFIM appeared as a full lineup to promote their second studio album. Kim Chaewon said, "It’s our first full album in three years. We really need this to do well," revealing both excitement and pressure.
Lee Suji brought up LE SSERAFIM’s debut track 'FEARLESS,' recalling, "Didn’t the music video top 100 million views right after debut?" Special MC Kang Sora added, "LE SSERAFIM has so many hits. Even the B-sides are great," openly showing her fangirl side.
Lee Sangmin shocked the studio by noting, "There are already nine LE SSERAFIM music videos with over 100 million views." When Lee Suji asked, "Did you have a feeling 'FEARLESS' would blow up from debut?", Sakura replied, "I kind of did. The song sounded incredibly polished."
Behind the flashy success was real pressure. When Tak Jaehoon asked, "Be honest—are you anxious right now?", Huh Yunjin admitted, "Honestly, yes. This comeback has to do well, too," candidly sharing pre-comeback nerves.
The members also looked back on stepping into Tokyo Dome just three years after debut. When Lee Suji praised, "It felt like you were making Korea proud," Kim Chaewon said, "It still doesn’t feel real. Tokyo Dome was our dream stage even before debut. We all cried on stage."
For Japanese members Sakura and Kazuha, performing at Tokyo Dome was even more meaningful. Sakura said, "It was my first time back at Tokyo Dome in 11 years," adding, "My family and friends—basically an entire neighborhood—came to watch," moving everyone.
The conversation turned to their overseas popularity. Lee Sangmin said, "I heard Chaewon is insanely popular in the U.S.—people even put her photo on the Stars and Stripes," to which Kim Chaewon laughed, "I think it just became a fan trend." When Tak Jaehoon asked, "So do you breeze through U.S. immigration?", Kim Chaewon replied, "Not at all. We explain who we are and even show our music videos," making everyone laugh.
They also revealed the moment they received their first payout. Huh Yunjin said, "We were all in the practice room together. Our CEO came in person to tell us," adding, "With my first payout, I bought my mom a luxury bag—but she thinks it’s too precious to use."
The group’s birthday gift culture caught attention, too. LE SSERAFIM said they set each other’s birthday gift budgets based on that year’s performance, adding with a laugh, "We raised it a lot last year, so we’re freezing it for now."
In the visual talk segment, their unfiltered honesty stood out. When Lee Suji asked, "You’re all gorgeous, but who’s the center?", Sakura replied, "These days, there isn’t a fixed center." When Tak Jaehoon followed up, "Even if there’s no center, who’s No. 1 in visuals?", every member picked herself. Tak Jaehoon marveled, "You really don’t fake it, do you?"
Sakura revealed her quirky charm: "I look pretty when I cry, so I take selfies then." Huh Yunjin added, "I even have a separate folder for tear selfies. I cry a lot and get emotional easily." Hearing this, Hong Eunchae joked, "They post those tear selfies in our group chat—I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with them," sending the set into laughter.
Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM made a high-profile return on May 22 with their second studio album 'PUREFLOW pt.1.'
