Shocking chart sweep: IVE have once again proven their overwhelming popularity in Japan as their new Japanese album ‘LUCID DREAM’ storms to No. 1 on both Oricon and Billboard Japan, setting the year’s top score for an overseas female act.
According to the latest Oricon charts released on the 3rd (local time), IVE’s fourth Japanese album ‘LUCID DREAM’ hit No. 1 on the ‘Weekly Combined Album Ranking,’ marking the group’s third No. 1 on that chart to date.
It’s also the first time in about 10 months that an overseas female artist has topped Oricon’s Weekly Combined Ranking, following IVE’s own ‘Be Alright’ last year. IVE also clinched No. 1 on the ‘Weekly Album Ranking,’ scoring a double crown on Oricon’s weekly charts. With 120,631 weekly points, they set the highest mark this year among overseas female artists.
The momentum continued on Billboard Japan. ‘LUCID DREAM’ took No. 1 on the Billboard Japan ‘Weekly Album Sales’ chart with 139,278 copies sold.
The album features six tracks, including the title track of the same name. The title song ‘LUCID DREAM’ portrays dreams as a space for self-encounter, blending IVE’s signature hopeful energy with an emotive melody — a combo that’s drawing strong reactions.
Meanwhile, IVE are in the middle of their second world tour, ‘SHOW WHAT I AM,’ and will reunite with fans in Japan at their Tokyo Dome show on the 24th.
