Actor Park Jung-min and Director Yeon Sang-ho are teaming up once again for the movie 'Face', which is set to meet audiences soon.
On the 14th, distributor Plus M Entertainment released the main poster and teaser for 'Face', along with the film's release date.
'Face' tells the mystery surrounding Im Yong-kyu (played by Kwon Hae-yo), a congenital blind craftsman, and his son Im Dong-hwan (played by Park Jung-min), as they discover the skeletal remains of his wife and their mother, Jeong Young-hee (played by Shin Hyun-bin), who went missing 40 years ago. The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name published by Director Yeon Sang-ho in 2018.
The film was officially invited to the Special Presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, raising expectations, and it is confirmed to be released in theaters on the 11th of next month. The main poster evokes a strong impression by collaging the erased face of Jeong Young-hee over 40 years and the images of those surrounding her death. The main teaser also emphasizes the dual mystery with the silhouette of a person carved as if by a seal.
Park Jung-min plays both the young Im Dong-hwan and his father, Im Yong-kyu, while Kwon Hae-yo takes on the role of the older Im Dong-hwan. Kwon Hae-yo's line, "Do you think I can’t distinguish between beauty and ugliness? The beautiful are respected and revered, while the ugly face contempt," hints at the deep themes of the film.
Additionally, Im Sung-jae plays the role of Baek Joo-sang, the owner of a clothing factory in Cheonggyecheon in the 1970s, while Han Ji-hyun plays Kim Soo-jin, a documentary PD tracking the truth behind Jeong Young-hee, enhancing the immersion of the film.
'Face' is expected to leave a strong impact and lingering impression on viewers with the chemistry between Park Jung-min and Kwon Hae-yo, portraying the father-son relationship across time, intertwined with a complex mystery.
Previously, Park Jung-min and Director Yeon Sang-ho collaborated on 'Psychokinesis' and 'Hell', so there is keen interest in whether their synergy will lead to box office success once again.
Meanwhile, 'Face' is set to release on September 11.
