Comedian Hong Hyun-hee candidly revealed her anxious inner thoughts through psychiatric counseling.
Recently, a video featuring Hong Hyun-hee and her husband Jayseon visiting the psychiatric clinic of Dr. Oh Jin-seung was published on their YouTube channel.
In the video, Jayseon expressed his concern about his wife's changes, stating, "These days, she seems to be going through a teenage phase. It feels like all the emotions she's been suppressing are coming out at once," and added, "With just work and parenting on repeat, she seems to be overwhelmed and exhausted."
Hong Hyun-hee confessed, "I don't even know what I like. I have no hobbies or tastes. I'm at a loss as to how to find those things." She continued, "I don't have any long-term goals. It feels like 10 years from now will never come. I even think to myself, 'Will I still be alive then?'" This left everyone feeling sympathetic.
Dr. Oh Jin-seung explained, "Marriage and childbirth are major turning points in life. As a child grows, a mother reaches a point where she reflects on herself." Hong Hyun-hee replied, "As Junbeom starts talking and goes to daycare, I've begun to think more about life."
Jayseon voiced his concern, saying, "My wife relieves her stress by eating," to which Hong Hyun-hee acknowledged, "Every time I eat late-night snacks and regret it, I feel small and pathetic."
After the counseling session, Hong Hyun-hee said, "I’m someone who cares a lot about what others think of me, but I felt overwhelmed when told to start paying attention to myself," and added, "Counseling doesn't have to be grand. By sharing my story, I hope to get to know myself better and become a more vibrant person."
Meanwhile, Hong Hyun-hee debuted as an SBS comedian in 2007 and married Jayseon in 2018. They welcomed their son Junbeom in 2022.
