The movie 'Project Y' has won the top prize in the competition section of the 10th London Asian Film Festival (LEAFF), as announced by the distributor Plus M Entertainment on the 3rd.
'Project Y' tells the story of Mi-sun (played by Han So-hee) and Do-kyung (played by Jeon Jong-seo) who, in a desperate bid to escape their harsh realities, steal hidden black money and gold bars. The film is generating excitement among prospective viewers with its powerful ensemble cast, featuring actors such as Han So-hee, Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Shin-rok, Jung Young-joo, Lee Jae-kyun, Yoo Ah, and Kim Seong-cheol, along with its meticulous storytelling and gripping immersion.
The London Asian Film Festival praised 'Project Y', stating that it is a work that boldly expands the horizons of contemporary neo-noir cinema. Meanwhile, the London Asian Film Festival, which opened on the 23rd of last month, has established itself as a leading European platform for showcasing creative and challenging works from various Asian countries.
A total of 45 films were screened, and 'Project Y' was one of only eight films invited to the competition section, alongside director Seo Ki's 'Girl' and Ha Jung-woo's 'Neighbors', bringing home the top honor. The film is set to be released in South Korea soon.
