Actor Kim Soo-hyun’s team has once again strongly raised the possibility of evidence fabrication by the late Kim Sae-ron’s family.

On the 10th, Kim Soo-hyun’s legal representative, Attorney Ko Sang-rok of Pill Law Firm, stated on his YouTube channel, “It has come to our attention that Attorney Bu Ji-seok, the legal representative for the Kim Sae-ron family, has participated in an interview with a public broadcasting investigative reporting program” and added, “We welcome this interview as we have been waiting for the family’s official stance.”

However, Attorney Ko soon expressed that “at the same time, some individuals known to be associated with Kim Sae-ron are spreading claims via social media that ‘the family is providing new, undisclosed materials to their legal representative’” and warned that “this signals a serious alert of the potential recurrence of the incident that previously inflicted serious harm on Kim Soo-hyun with fabricated materials.”

Attorney Ko asserted, “The family has not responded to several months of police investigation requests, and they only received the civil lawsuit filed in March when it reached July. They have not even submitted a response within the legal timeframe after that.” He continued, “In such circumstances, claiming to present ‘material to overturn the situation’ now is logically indefensible. If materials not verified in the records submitted to the police and courts over the past eight months suddenly appear, it clearly supports the possibility of fabrication.”

He also noted, “The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has already acknowledged the inadequate and delayed investigation of this case, and a review is currently underway. In this scenario, if fabricated materials or further dissemination of personal information occurs, it may lead to immediate grounds for arrest.”

This controversy flared up after Kim Sae-ron’s death in February. Kim Soo-hyun has faced allegations from the family and the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (hereinafter Gaseyeon) that “the deceased and he were in a relationship for about six years since she was a minor.” However, Kim Soo-hyun directly refuted these claims at a press conference in March, stating, “The relationship during her minor years is not true, and it is also not true that I made a tragic choice due to external pressure or pressure from my agency.”

Kim Soo-hyun’s side alleges that the KakaoTalk messages, photos, and letters disclosed by the family are fabricated evidence and has filed defamation charges and a lawsuit for damages amounting to 12 billion won against the family and Gaseyeon operations manager Kim Se-yi. In contrast, the family has countersued Kim Soo-hyun, accusing him of violations of child welfare laws and false accusations, creating a standoff between the two sides.

The case is currently under a focused investigation by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and the back-and-forth regarding the truth between both parties shows signs of prolongation.
