Shaking up the spring theater scene, actor Soo-ro Kim returns as executive producer on a new season of the original musical set to meet audiences this spring.
On the 15th, production company Double K Entertainment announced the opening of the original musical Neoreul Wihan Geulja — a show that drew rave reviews from both audiences and critics in its premiere — and unveiled its casting lineup.
The well-crafted original musical Neoreul Wihan Geulja is set in early 19th-century Manarola, a small seaside village in Italy, and follows three characters through a heartfelt story of love and growth.
Turi, an eccentric inventor indifferent to others, meets aspiring writer Carolina and bestselling author Domenico, which cracks open his world and teaches him to understand other people's hearts through love. Carolina, who refuses to give up on her dream; Domenico, the ever-reliable friend; and Turi, who matures through love and friendship between them — their intertwined journey delivers a quiet, lingering resonance.
This season's cast blends fresh faces with returning favorites, building major anticipation. Seung-woo Yoon, praised for his chameleon-like character work in Bare: The Musical and Almond, newly joins as the quirky inventor Turi. Reprising his role after the 2024 revival, Jin-woo Lee will portray Turi's evolution with even greater nuance. Byung-hoon Kang and Yeo-baek Yoon round out the role with their own distinct charms.
As Carolina, Sae-him Park returns following the 2024 revival. Newcomers Min-jae Sung and Young-hwa Cho will bring warm, nuanced interpretations to the character. For Domenico, original cast member Byeol Lim is joined by Min-woo Choi and Jwa-heon Park, promising a steady, compelling dynamic among the trio.
The producers shared, "Marking our 10th anniversary, we're thrilled to present a work of real significance once again. We'll do our utmost to offer audiences quiet comfort through the three characters' journeys of love and growth."
Meanwhile, Neoreul Wihan Geulja will run from March 4 to May 31 at Link Arts Center Dream, Dream Hall 4.
