Actor Ryu Si-won introduced his wife — a math instructor 19 years his junior — on TV for the first time, revealing their love story and what life looks like six years into marriage.

On the January 19 broadcast of TV CHOSUN's variety show Lover of Joseon, the couple officially appeared together and shared previously unknown details about their relationship and how they started dating.

The two were earlier spotted at comedian Yoon Jung-soo's wedding, drawing major public attention. On the show, Ryu spoke even more candidly.

Their first meeting was at a friends' gathering. Ryu recalled, "I'm not the type to ask for someone's number first, but I was strangely drawn to her." However, his previous divorce left him fearful of marriage, and he would often say, "I don't think I can marry again." Hearing this, his wife admitted she chose a brief breakup, saying, "I thought it'd be better to end it before we got too attached."

But their connection wasn't easily severed. They kept in touch even after parting, reunited three years later, and eventually married. The show also revealed keepsakes from their dating days — like a homemade sandwich lunchbox and handwritten letters — making the cast openly jealous.

Now in their sixth year of marriage, the couple is still so affectionate they walk everywhere hand in hand. Ryu said, "My wife doesn't hold back when expressing herself, and that suits me," proudly showing his love. Watching this, Hwang Bo-ra laughed and said, "I should treat my husband even better."

Meanwhile, Ryu filed for divorce mediation in 2010 just a year and five months after his first marriage, leading to a prolonged legal battle. He remarried his current wife in 2020.
