The late Wheesung co-founded BlueBrown Records, a new label that has officially announced the launch of its first girl group. The spotlight is on Choi Ji-hyun and Yoon Soo-in, who made strong impressions through audition programs.
On January 30, BlueBrown Records stated, “Choi Ji-hyun, who gained recognition through R U Next?, and Yoon Soo-in from Unpretty Rapstar: HIP POP Princess will participate as the team’s core members,” officially announcing the start of the new girl group project. The label was founded by creative director Myung Sang-woo—who has shaped the growth of groups like ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, and ILLIT—together with Wheesung, attracting attention from the outset.
Choi Ji-hyun rose to popularity on JTBC’s R U Next? with explosive performances that contrasted with her cute visuals. Although she did not reach the final stage, her elegant dance lines and meticulous stage planning left a strong impression on global fans. After connecting with CEO Myung Sang-woo through the program, Choi Ji-hyun is now making a fresh start with BlueBrown Records.
Yoon Soo-in drew attention on SBS’s Universe Ticket and Mnet’s Unpretty Rapstar: HIP POP Princess for her solid rap skills and captivating tone. With commanding stage presence and unexpectedly striking visuals, she earned strong fan support and was recognized as a next-generation female rapper.
With performance-driven Choi Ji-hyun and all-rounder vocalist-rapper Yoon Soo-in joining forces, anticipation is building over what musical direction BlueBrown Records’ first girl group will take.
