Studio Dragon and Jaedam Media are kicking off a full-scale collaboration to diversify IP, led by the viral webtoon 'Yeogosaeng Wanghu'.
Studio Dragon recently signed a planning and development deal with Jaedam Media to adapt 'Yeogosaeng Wanghu' into a drama. Before that, last year CJ ENM and Jaedam Media signed an MOU for the joint planning and production of webtoon-to-drama projects.
Jaedam Media is a studio specializing in webtoon and web-novel IP, with numerous hit series that successfully made the jump to screen, including Weak Hero, Seasons of Blossom, Positively Yours .
The webtoon 'Yeogosaeng Wanghu' (written by Criti/illustrated by Nehae) is serialized on Naver Webtoon. It follows Kim Cheong-ha, once a Joseon queen and the era's finest swordswoman, who is reincarnated as modern high schooler Park Dajin and delivers cathartic justice by taking down bullies with Joseon martial arts.
Jaedam Media CEO Hwang Nam-yong shared, "Through our collaboration with Studio Dragon, if 'Yeogosaeng Wanghu' expands into various content formats, we can showcase the original's worldbuilding and the appeal of its characters even more richly."
