Actor Shim Eun-kyung will portray her first villain role in the upcoming drama ‘Mad Concrete Dreams.’

On the 9th, tvN’s new Saturday–Sunday drama ‘Mad Concrete Dreams’ held its production presentation. Ha Jung-woo, Im Soo-jung, Kim Joon-han, Jung Soo-jung, Shim Eun-kyung, and director Im Pil-sung attended the event to introduce the series.

Shim Eun-kyung plays Yona, marking her first time portraying a villain. She described the role as “the most vile character,” explaining, “She’s from overseas, but it’s impossible to pin down exactly where — a mysterious figure.” She added that the character pressures Gi Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo) in various ways from the beginning of the story and carries motivations different from the other characters.

Shim said she had long wanted to take on a villain role, explaining that the project allowed her to explore a new acting challenge. “I felt pressure at first, but filming became more and more fun as we went,” she said. She also noted that the director’s advice — “I want you to act like yourself” — helped shape her performance.

Meanwhile, ‘Mad Concrete Dreams’ marks Shim Eun-kyung’s return to Korean television dramas after six years and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. on tvN.
