TV personality Kim Won-hee candidly opened up about the dating rumors with comedian Kang Ho-dong that once stirred up buzz during her variety show days.
On the March 9 broadcast of the SBS variety show Unbelievable, Kim appeared as a guest and chatted with Tak Jae-hoon, Lee Sang-min, Lee Su-ji, and Kai about a range of topics.
Bringing up the rumors from the 1990s, Kim recalled, "It was the first scandal of my life." The two had become embroiled in dating rumors after appearing together on the 1996 SBS variety show Our Happy Saturday.
"Back then, reporters came to me in person to confirm things and even asked people around me whether it was true," she said. "There were even claims that there were eyewitnesses who saw us together." She continued, "The reporters described the situation so specifically that it was hard to just laugh it off," adding that she eventually called Kang Ho-dong directly. On the call, Kim asked if he had heard the rumors lately, and Kang Ho-dong replied, "Don't call me. Hang up! It'll start rumors," before immediately hanging up, she recalled, drawing laughter.
She added that she was baffled because "he reacted like I was the one spreading the rumors."
Meanwhile, Kim Won-hee debuted in 1992 as part of MBC's 21st class of actors and continues to stay active across various fields to this day.
