Model-turned-TV personality Joo Woo-jae looks back on his modeling days and proudly shows just how far his confidence goes.
On the March 12 broadcast of KBS2 variety show Problem Child in House, actress Kim Hee-jung — who spent a staggering 17 years in obscurity — and actress Park Jin-hee, who rose to fame through the Whispering Corridors film series, appear as guests. The two candidly open up about their long rookie years and how they finally secured their place as actors, revealing a different kind of variety charm.
The episode takes time to revisit the MCs’ debut days and their years spent unknown. In particular, before becoming a variety star, Joo Woo-jae reveals that he was basically never “unknown” during his modeling career, grabbing attention. Showing confidence, Joo says, "In the modeling scene, my name was at least a little known," and same-age Yang Se-chan agrees, saying, "Woo-jae was pretty famous in the modeling scene."
By contrast, Kim Sook shares the complete opposite experience. "Out of everyone here, I spent the longest time unknown," she recalls of her rookie years. "I entered a broadcast station at 19, but people only knew me as the 'slap girl' when I was 27." Hearing this, Hong Jin-kyung can’t hide her surprise: "You debuted at 19?"
Kim Sook also talks about the broadcast environment at the time: "Back then, if a comedian worked as a reporter, seniors would scold you, saying, 'Why is a comedian doing reporting?'" She lays bare the struggles of those anonymous years.
The episode airs on the 12th at 8:30 p.m.
