Actor Esom is set to shake up prime time as a cool-headed, elite attorney.
Premiering on the 13th, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer (hereafter 'Phantom Lawyer') pairs Esom with Yoo Yeon-seok, who plays Shin I-rang, a lawyer who boldly resolves the lingering grudges of the dead.
In the series, Esom plays Han Na-hyun, Taebaek Law Firm’s ace attorney with a flawless 100% win rate. She appears icy and perfect on the surface, but underneath lies hidden pain and old wounds. Through Han Na-hyun, Esom showcases the relentless appeal of a strict principles-first perfectionist. She embodies a steely side that moves on rational judgment, never swayed by emotion, declaring, "If I’m not sure I can win, I won’t even start."
But everything changes when the unexpected variable—Shin I-rang—walks into her life. Having lived fiercely to fulfill her older sister’s dream that she become a lawyer, Han Na-hyun confronts the vulnerability she’s buried deep inside and begins to grow. Esom is set to portray this journey with nuance, shaping Han Na-hyun into a three-dimensional, true-to-life character. Anticipation is also high for her romance with Yoo Yeon-seok’s character. The two start as courtroom rivals on the same case, then gradually become a team through their connection to spirits, naturally finding their way into each other’s lives.
'Phantom Lawyer,' where Esom’s handsome-pretty visuals truly shine, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
