BTS have broadcast the melody of the Korean folk song 'Arirang' to the world through a new animated short tied to their fifth studio album.
At 11 a.m. on the 13th, BIGHIT MUSIC dropped an animation via BTS's official social channels that conveys the message of their new album 'Arirang' (ARIRANG).
The video opens in 1896 Washington, where seven young men gather around a phonograph. As they wind the spring, the tune of 'Arirang'—Korea's representative folk song—pours out, instantly captivating viewers. They then cross the Pacific on a massive ship, record the song in a foreign land, and share it with the locals.
When the setting shifts to the present, BTS appear on stage. Under purple lights, the members deliver a high-energy performance to roaring cheers from the crowd. The animation closes with BTS standing proudly in front of Gwanghwamun, sending a message of hope and comfort through music.
Inspired by records that 'Arirang' was first recorded in Washington, U.S., in 1896, the video spotlights BTS's role in bringing Korean culture to global audiences.
Along with the animation, BTS also unveiled the first group photo for their new album 'Arirang' that same day. Dressed in sleek suits reminiscent of the seven figures in the video, the members exude refined charisma.
BTS will release their fifth studio album 'Arirang' at 1 p.m. on the 20th. The following day, on the 21st, they will hold 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' (BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE|ARIRANG) around Gwanghwamun Square.
