Netflix has officially greenlit a sequel to the global hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters (hereafter 'KDH').

According to Bloomberg, on the 12th (local time) Netflix signed a multi-year exclusive writing and directing partnership for animation with the film’s co-directors — Korean Canadian Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans — and announced it is moving forward with the sequel.

However, no release window has been revealed yet, and the project is reportedly in early development.

Director Maggie Kang said, "As a Korean filmmaker, I feel immense pride that people want to see more Korean stories and characters. This is just the beginning, and there’s still so much more to show you in the world we created." Co-director Chris Appelhans added, "The (Huntrix) characters feel like family to us, and their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, watch them grow, and push the boundaries so music, animation, and story come together."

'KDH' follows Huntrix, a K-pop idol girl group that saves the world from evil spirits. Since its release last year, it has exploded in popularity, sweeping major awards. In January, it won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, and also took home Best Animated Feature and Best Song at the Critics Choice Awards.
