TV personality Jang Young-ran directly addressed mounting allegations that her diet product brand was tied to coordinated programming across multiple broadcasts.

On the 24th, Jang apologized on Instagram, saying, “I’m sorry for causing worry and inconvenience after a recent YouTube video discussed my brand.” She added, “I’m checking each allegation one by one. So far, we have proceeded in compliance with relevant rules and guidelines, and I understand there were no false statements or omissions.”

Jang stressed, “I was not directly involved in the production direction of any home shopping broadcast or in casting decisions,” but admitted, “I take seriously that the product was introduced by an ultimately inappropriate guest, which caused discomfort and disappointment.”

The controversy erupted after the YouTube channel SamangYeoTV flagged what it claimed were links between Jang’s brand, a terrestrial information program, and a home shopping broadcast lineup. The channel argued that right after a segment aired highlighting weight loss success tied to a specific ingredient, a home shopping show began selling a product featuring a similar ingredient—raising concerns about potential consumer deception.

Questions also grew over whether the timing of the featured weight-loss case matched the product’s launch date. Some viewers further claimed the product shown on air appeared identical to Jang’s brand.

Jang concluded, “This has made me reflect on what fell short from the consumer’s perspective and on aspects that caused misunderstandings. I will communicate more prudently and carefully moving forward, and I humbly accept the criticism you’ve shared.”
