Actor Park Bo-young is making a shocking transformation for her next project — even shedding weight — as she takes on her first-ever crime genre role since debut.
On April 1, the Disney+ original series Gold Land unveiled Park Bo-young’s character stills. The production team shared, "To convincingly portray the survival journey after getting hold of gold bars, she even committed to losing weight."
Explaining what sets this role apart, Park said, "Kim Hee-joo is strong-willed and undergoes major changes. If I’ve often played characters who overcome with a smile, this time I wanted to show a dry, rough-edged face of someone just trying to survive no matter what." She added, "I found myself becoming more and more like Hee-joo," signaling deep immersion in the character. Park also teased a bold transformation, saying, "I tried everything I possibly could."
Meanwhile, Gold Land is a survival thriller about a person who gets their hands on gold bars worth 150 billion won and fights to keep the stash amid a web of greed and betrayal. The series premieres on the 29th, dropping two episodes weekly, for a total of 10 episodes.
