"Baby Beast" Kim Si-hyun is welcoming spring with a "foraging study trip."
The April 3 broadcast of the MBC variety show I Live Alone follows Kim Si-hyun as she heads to Tongyeong in search of peak-season ingredients. "Spring arrives here about two weeks earlier than in other regions," she says, hitting the traditional market at dawn with unmissable passion.
Meeting vendors who harvest and sell spring greens themselves, Kim dives deep into ingredient scouting. "It's where you can find wild greens handpicked by grandmas from the countryside," she explains, carefully checking the aroma and texture of each type. She also stocks up on ultra-fresh seafood rarely found in Seoul, showing just how serious she is about sourcing.
Next, she enjoys breakfast with Tongyeong's signature dish, bokguk (pufferfish soup). Kim reveals her own trick for dialing up the umami, promising to make viewers' mouths water.
This trip also features someone special for Kim: a long-time culinary mentor she has known in Tongyeong. The episode teases the backstory of their seven-year teacher-student bond and how Kim first set foot on the path to cooking.
From her relentless hunt for seasonal spring produce to a meaningful reunion with her mentor, Kim Si-hyun's "foraging study trip" will air on April 3 at 11:10 p.m.
