Comedian Lee Bong-won lays bare his complicated emotions as he recalls his wife Park Mi-sun’s battle with breast cancer.
On the 8th, SBS variety show Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny dropped a teaser capturing Lee—who runs a jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant—meeting former baseball player-turned-entrepreneur Kim Byung-hyun. Lee spends a hectic day talking business with Kim.
Kim proposes using his brand’s sausages at the jjambbong spot. Lee replies, "Business has to be win-win for both sides," laying out conditions and sparking laughs with his no-nonsense negotiating. In the process, Kim even name-drops former MLB pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin, hinting at an unexpected twist.
Then the mood turns serious. Diners at the restaurant ask about Park Mi-sun’s health. While Lee answers cheerfully on the spot, he can’t hide his true feelings in a separate interview. "My wife suddenly got sick, so we’ve been going to the hospital together and continuing treatment," he confesses, getting choked up.
Previously, Park Mi-sun paused her activities after an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis to focus on treatment. Through broadcasts and social media, she has since shared updates on her recovery.
Lee reflects on the time he spent by his wife’s side and conveys his deep affection. The couple’s candid story—after so many years together—is expected to leave viewers with a lasting impression.
Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny, featuring Lee Bong-won, airs on the 14th at 10:40 p.m.
