For Baek Jong-won, the past year wasn’t about growth—it was about pause.

Speaking at The Born Korea’s annual shareholders’ meeting on March 31 in Gangnam, he described the previous year as effectively “lost,” shaped by a series of complaints and investigations that slowed the company’s momentum.

Now, he’s drawing a line under that period.

With most of the allegations reportedly resolved without charges, Baek framed this year as a reset—one that allows the company to finally move forward with plans that had been put on hold.

Those plans are ambitious. Beyond strengthening its franchise foundations, The Born Korea is pushing deeper into global markets, with a focus on expanding its B2B sauce business across North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Structural changes, including new leadership appointments, are already in motion.

For Baek, the shift isn’t just operational—it’s directional. Less about recovering what was lost, and more about redefining what comes next.
