Jun Ji-hyun was unexpectedly hailed as a "raw zombie-acting gem" right in front of director Yeon Sang-ho — a behind-the-scenes moment that had everyone cracking up.
On the 6th, a teaser Shorts titled "Found it! My raw zombie gem, Jun Ji-hyun" dropped on Na Young-seok PD's channel fullmoon YouTube channel. The clip features director Yeon Sang-ho, who helms Parasyte: The Grey, alongside Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-bin, and Kim Shin-rok as they chat about the project.
Recalling his hit Train to Busan, Yeon said, "At first, the stunt team felt a bit embarrassed about zombie acting." For a team used to sleek, hard-hitting action, twisting their bodies and moving like zombies was an unfamiliar challenge.
But the vibe flipped over time. "As time went on, the embarrassment around zombie acting disappeared. It actually turned into a competition over who could portray a better zombie," Yeon continued. He added that Jun Ji-hyun also grew curious and started trying out zombie moves on set, drawing attention.
"The director is so good at shooting zombie films, so I tried copying a little by his side," Jun Ji-hyun recalled. "I thought he was watching the monitor, but he suddenly looked at me and reacted like someone who had just discovered an uncut gem," she said, making everyone burst into laughter.
Commenting on her movement, Yeon joked, "Aren't her legs incredibly long? The way those long legs bent looked like a water strider," which cracked up the room. Jun playfully added, "The director's eyes were sparkling."
Parasyte: The Grey follows survivors trapped inside a sealed-off building during a mysterious outbreak as they face off against evolving infected. It hits theaters on the 21st.
Meanwhile, the zombie chat between Jun Ji-hyun and Yeon Sang-ho on Na Young-seok's Wagle Wagle will be released on the 8th at 6 p.m.
