Shocking K-pop move: Risenne has been appointed Gyeongju’s Tourism Ambassadors, extending their streak of regional ambassador roles and putting member Jenna—known as the “Silla Princess”—front and center.
On the 29th, the city of Gyeongju announced it named Risenne as official tourism ambassadors. The group will help promote the historic city’s charm and diverse travel content to audiences in Korea and abroad.
Jenna, who hails from Gyeongju, played a decisive role in the appointment. She previously went viral on member Woni’s YouTube channel for content featuring the Gyeongsang dialect, earning the affectionate nickname “Silla Princess.” Her approachable personality and love for her hometown have already sparked buzz among fans.
Gyeongju officials highlighted Jenna’s local symbolism and Risenne’s mainstream pull. “With K-pop wielding global influence, we needed ambassadors who can connect more naturally with young people and international visitors,” the city said, adding, “With Gyeongju-native Jenna in the lineup, Risenne embodies both local roots and mass appeal.”
Risenne plans to introduce Gyeongju’s historical and cultural heritage, festivals, and must-visit attractions to domestic and international fandoms—especially the MZ generation—in a friendly, accessible way. The city expects the group to reinforce Gyeongju’s youthful, dynamic image among K-pop fans and boost the city’s brand competitiveness.
This isn’t Risenne’s first local ambassadorship. Following appointments for member Woni’s hometown of Geoje and Liv’s hometown of Suwon, they’ve now added Gyeongju—Jenna’s hometown—to the list, amplifying the group’s presence as each member’s local identity aligns with Risenne’s rapid rise.
Meanwhile, Risenne returns on July 8 with a remake of KARA’s smash hit ‘Pretty Girl.’
