Actor Hwang Jung-min’s team issued an official statement, forcefully pushing back against a fast-spreading post about his private life.
On the 29th, Hwang’s agency Sam Company said, "The author of the malicious post is a suspect in a stalking crime who has persistently harassed Mr. Hwang Jung-min." They added, "Mr. Hwang has filed a criminal complaint against the author," noting that "the court has imposed temporary restraining measures, including no-contact orders, on three separate occasions."
The agency continued, "The stalking charge was acknowledged, and the court issued a summary order imposing a fine of 3 million won," making it clear that the recently circulated post is a one-sided claim.
They also described the materials uploaded to social media as "maliciously edited" and said they plan to take additional legal action over those posts as well.
They concluded with an apology: "We are sorry for causing concern over this matter."
Earlier the same day, online communities and social media were flooded with exposé-style posts about Hwang Jung-min’s private life, fueling controversy. The poster claimed they had been romantically involved with Hwang and uploaded images purportedly capturing messenger chats and call logs.
The posts also included messages that seemed to suggest a personal relationship and audio files the poster claimed were call recordings. While the poster alleged the voice belonged to Hwang, the authenticity of the released materials has not been verified.
As the controversy intensified, Hwang’s camp said the poster had already faced legal judgment for stalking and vowed a firm response.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-min is currently meeting audiences through director Na Hong-jin’s film Hope.
