Former announcer and broadcaster Choi Eun-kyung shared her thoughts on leaving the entertainment show 'Dongchimi'.
On the September 14 broadcast of TV Chosun's 'Chef Heo Young-man's Baekban Gastronomy', Choi Eun-kyung appeared and explored dining spots in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. During the show, Heo Young-man asked, "Aren't you doing 'Dongchimi' anymore?" to which Choi Eun-kyung replied, "I am not. I think my 40s went into that. I really worked hard," reflecting on her past.
Choi Eun-kyung stated, "So I have no regrets at all. When a person works too hard, there comes a time to just say, 'I praise myself' and applaud before leaving." She added, "After running forward for over a decade, I now want to find my own path," and emphasized that she is focused on her YouTube channel for now.
Previously, Choi Eun-kyung won public affection as the main MC of MBN's entertainment show 'Sokpul Show Dongchimi' alongside comedian Park Soo-hong since 2012. However, in April, both Choi Eun-kyung and Park Soo-hong left the program simultaneously due to a restructuring.
There was also some controversy during this process. The production team cited that it was part of the 'program restructuring' for the 30th anniversary of the channel, but given that both were seen as 'pioneers of the broadcast', many speculated otherwise. Notably, both were unable to say a proper goodbye to viewers due to their sudden exit.
The baton has since been passed to Kim Yong-man, Lee Hyun-hee, and Enok. However, following Enok's recent departure from the show, negative opinions regarding the MC changes have begun to emerge.
