‘The Master of the World’ Surpasses 100,000 Viewers—Third Hit After ‘It’s Okay’ and ‘Homecam’

The film ‘The Master of the World’ has surpassed 100,000 viewers just 24 days after its release. With this achievement, it becomes the third Korean independent film this year to cross the 100,000-viewer mark, following ‘It’s Okay It’s Okay It’s Okay!’ and ‘Homecam’.

‘The Master of the World’ is the third feature by director Yoon Ga-eun and tells the story of a high school student leading a petition against a signature campaign. Rookie actor Seo Soo-bin plays the film’s lead student protagonist.

Following the announcement of the milestone, cast members including Seo Soo-bin and Jang Hye-jin expressed their gratitude through handwritten messages. Seo Soo-bin wrote, “Thank you sincerely to the 100,000 who created the world of the student,” while Jang Hye-jin shared, “Endless thanks to the supporters!” Lee Jae-hee added, “While playing Hae-in, I realized a bit what it feels like to want to protect a loved one,” offering a heartfelt note.

Meanwhile, ‘The Master of the World’ was the first and only Korean film invited to compete at the Toronto International Film Festival. It also received two awards at the Pingyao International Film Festival and earned the International Federation of Film Critics Award at the Warsaw International Film Festival. In addition, a local distributor in China was confirmed swiftly, signaling a positive response from the overseas market.
