Park Min-young’s latest drama is riding a surge in ratings.
In episode 4 of tvN’s Monday–Tuesday drama Siren, which aired on the 10th, insurance investigator Cha Woo-seok (Wi Ha-joon) undergoes a striking shift in how he sees Han Seol-ah (Park Min-young), who has been labeled a suspect in an alleged insurance-payout murder. His gaze moves from suspicion to curiosity, swaying the course of the investigation and cranking up the show’s tension.
According to Nielsen Korea, the broadcast scored a nationwide household average of 4.3% and a peak of 5.7%, ranking No. 1 in its time slot across cable and general programming channels. It also topped tvN’s key 20–49 demographic among both men and women in both the Seoul capital area and nationwide.
Within the episode, Cha Woo-seok finds signs that Han Seol-ah was being stalked at Kim Yoon-ji’s (Lee Ellyia) home, but before he can tell her, Han Seol-ah is arrested on suspicion of killing Kim Yoon-ji. An intern at Royal Auction, Do Eun-hye (Han Chae-rin), then testifies and points to Han Seol-ah as the culprit, but Han quickly proves her alibi and is cleared from the probe. When the case is ruled a suicide, Woo-seok is left deflated and starts digging for the truth himself, tracking the past connection between Han Seol-ah and her ex-boyfriend Choi Young-ho (Yoon Jong-hoon). In the process, the reason Kim Yoon-ji began stalking Han Seol-ah slowly comes to light.
Through a recorded conversation Kim Yoon-ji left behind, Woo-seok uncovers clues to Han Seol-ah’s tragic past and begins to feel compassion for her. Seeing Han silently absorb the bereaved family’s anger during Yoon Seung-jae’s (Ha Seok-jin) memorial tablet enshrinement, his emotions grow more complicated and he chases the case even harder. When Han Seol-ah, overwhelmed, attempts an extreme choice, Woo-seok rushes in and saves her. As she breaks down and shouts, "What more do you want to know?", he answers, "Han Seol-ah, I want to know you," revealing how his feelings have changed.
Meanwhile, Siren airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.
