Actors Park Jinyoung and Kim Minju’s heartbreaking 10-year love story has been revealed.
On the 17th, the production team of JTBC’s Friday series The Shining unveiled unreleased stills from Episodes 3 and 4.
The stills capture the past and present of Yeon Tae-seo (played by Park Jinyoung) and Mo Eun-a (played by Kim Minju), a relationship as hot—and as cold—as a midsummer shower. From age twenty, when their love burned brightest, to the moment they hit the wall of reality and broke up, and finally to the present at thirty a decade later—the timeline grips viewers.
As long-distance college sweethearts, they loved fiercely despite rarely meeting, but ultimately split when faced with real-life obstacles. Reuniting ten years later, the two share tender, lingering gazes in an awkward silence, stirring deep emotions. Their sun-soaked summer memories also resurface: model freshman Yeon Tae-seo and hotelier trainee Mo Eun-a beam with first-love energy. Especially during a hometown date, they can’t take their eyes off each other, adding a sweet spark.
The sudden breakup hits like a monsoon downpour in midsummer. Mo Eun-a’s conflicted expression after ending things, and Yeon Tae-seo’s tear-soaked face crumbling in place, amplify the heartbreak, evoking a breakup memory many have lived through.
Now mature adults, they exude a different aura. Yeon Tae-seo is a subway train operator, while Mo Eun-a manages a vintage stay; both show a new level of poise beyond their 19- and 20-year-old selves. With a decade of change between them, attention is on what they will become to each other now—and whether they can bridge the long gap and shine again together.
Meanwhile, The Shining, spotlighting the duo’s richly layered emotional performances, airs every Friday at 8:50 p.m. on JTBC.
