Rapper Dok2 is accused of still failing to pay an overseas jeweler despite a court-ordered settlement compelling him to cover outstanding jewelry bills.
On the 3rd, Munhwa Ilbo reported that attorneys Kim Yong-beom and foreign attorney Lee Sang-yeop of OKIMS Law Firm, who previously represented the jeweler, said in a statement, "Although Dok2 was required under the court's compulsory mediation to repay the debt in three installments, he has made only one payment so far, and the remaining balance remains unpaid."
According to the outlet, from September to November 2018, Dok2 purchased jewelry totaling $206,000 (about 267 million won at the time) and left $34,740 unpaid, prompting the jeweler to sue his former agency in October 2019. In July 2022, the Seoul Southern District Court's Civil Appeals Division 4 largely accepted the plaintiff's claim and ordered Dok2 to pay $34,740 plus delay damages in three installments by January 6, 2023.
The renewed nonpayment claims are drawing extra attention after Dok2 effectively acknowledged his relationship with singer Lee Hi. Recently, the two sparked buzz by posting what looked like 'lovestagram' updates on Instagram. Without explicitly confirming or denying, they used phrases like "my man" and "my woman" on their respective social media, which many took as de facto confirmation.
