Actor Choi Min-young is back in the spotlight with Netflix’s latest hit.
Released on April 2, XO, Kitty Season 3 shot to No. 1 on Netflix’s Global TV chart, according to ranking site FlixPatrol, and is winning huge love in major markets including the United States, Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. A spin-off of the film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the series follows teen love and friendship set at a Seoul boarding school.
Choi portrays Dae — Kitty (played by Anna Cathcart)’s ex-boyfriend and a kind, steady friend — and this season he delivers an even deeper emotional arc. In particular, Dae reflects on himself amid sweeping changes and contemplates his future and dreams, drawing strong empathy from viewers.
He’s earned praise as the character who keeps relationships grounded, offering heartfelt support and comfort to his friends. His evolving dynamics with Min-ho (Lee Sang-heon) and Yuri (Gia Kim) are depicted naturally, further amplifying the character’s charm. Building on the arc established in previous seasons, Dae’s story reaches new depth this season, meeting fans’ expectations.
Since the Season 3 drop, reactions have been heating up: “I didn’t realize he was Joon-tae from Weak Hero Class 2,” “It feels like a full-on Choi Min-young boom is coming.”
Meanwhile, after making a strong impression in XO, Kitty Season 1, Choi has continued to expand his range across genres with projects like Weak Hero Class 2 and the musical Clover.
