RM of BTS is facing controversy in Japan following reports alleging that he smoked in non-designated areas and improperly discarded cigarette butts.

On April 22, Japanese weekly Shukan Bunshun reported that RM was seen spending time in Tokyo’s Shibuya area, where he allegedly visited several bars with acquaintances. The report included photos and cited eyewitness accounts claiming that he smoked in locations where street smoking is restricted.

According to the outlet, the incidents were said to have taken place in areas clearly marked as no-smoking zones. It also reported that a security guard warned him at one point. Additionally, there were claims that cigarette butts were left behind at the scene.

As of now, neither RM nor his agency HYBE has issued an official statement regarding the allegations.

Following the report, reactions among fans and online communities have been mixed. Some expressed concern over adherence to local regulations, while others questioned whether the situation reflects an invasion of privacy.

The controversy comes as BTS recently held their ‘Arirang’ world tour concerts at Tokyo Dome on April 17 and 18.
