Shocking reveal: Actor Lee Kwang-soo confessed he even got a real gold tooth to fully commit to his role.
On the April 29 broadcast of SBS PowerFM Cultwo Show, Disney+ original series Gold Land leads Park Bo-young and Lee Kwang-soo, along with director Kim Seong-hun, appeared to share behind-the-scenes stories from filming.
Park Bo-young said, “Kwang-soo’s makeup took so long that he ended up getting an actual gold tooth,” adding, “The director told him ‘Don’t show it anywhere,’ and he even covered his teeth while giving an acceptance speech at an awards show.” She continued, “At a promo event, the director suddenly told him to show the gold tooth, and it turned into a spoiler,” recalling the moment with a laugh.
Lee Kwang-soo explained the effort behind the character: “It took six to eight hours just for makeup because they drew every tattoo and scar one by one.” On the cost of the gold tooth, he joked, “I never said I’d pay out of pocket, but they told me to do it, so I did—and I still haven’t been reimbursed. I’m trying to track down the money for my missing gold tooth.” Director Kim Seong-hun replied, “It’ll be settled soon,” to which Lee quipped, “It’s been over a year,” sending the studio into laughter.
Gold Land is a survival thriller about a man who gets his hands on gold bullion worth 150 billion won and fights to stay alive amid a tangle of greed and betrayal. Led by Park Bo-young, the series also stars Kim Sung-cheol, Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Hee-won, and Moon Jeong-hee, promising a tense, edge-of-your-seat ride.
