Singer-turned-actress Kang Mina opened up about taking on Haran Geppaku Futsu and how she feels about I.O.I.

Released on Netflix on the 24th, Haran Geppaku Futsu is a horror series about high schoolers who make wishes through a wish-granting app called 'Haran Geppaku Futsu' and then fight to escape a foretold death curse. Kang Mina draws attention as she plays Im Nari.

On the 29th, near Samcheong-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kang Mina sat down with multiple outlets for interviews. She began, "From the moment I first read it, I just felt so sorry for Nari. In life, there are moments when you have to make selfish choices, and I don't think that's inherently bad." True to her words, she revealed she felt empathy—even for a character seen as a villain.

In its first week, the series ranked No. 4 globally on Netflix's Non-English TV chart, sparking buzz. Kang Mina said, "I saw the article this morning about being No. 4 globally, but to be honest it still doesn't feel real," adding, "I was happy to see reactions like 'Nari is so mean.'"

A former member of I.O.I, Kang Mina has been challenging herself with diverse roles since transitioning to acting. For Haran Geppaku Futsu, she dove into character study by forcing herself to watch horror. She admitted, "I can handle gory works, but I really can't do ghost stories. Still, while filming Haran Geppaku Futsu, I tried to watch only horror on OTT streaming platforms on purpose," drawing attention.

Meanwhile, Kang Mina couldn't join I.O.I's 10th-anniversary project due to her packed acting schedule. Expressing a bit of regret, she shared, "Everyone's so busy. We haven't been able to message each other separately yet. We've been talking in Instagram comments. When someone posts a Reel, we react. We're fine—we know where our hearts are."
